Tomahawk Creek Loop

Thornton Walking Track and Campground with long drop toilets
After arriving back at Kurth Klin Picnic Ground, we had a bite to eat and then left for some touristy stuff. Our first stop was at Kurth Kiln to look around the outside of the machinery museum built beside the klin chimney. Most of the museum is closed but a collection of gas producers from various towns of Victoria, used during world war two, are on display outside the museum shed.

Then we drove for several kilometres north along Gembrook Road took us to the Shiprock Falls car park with a long drop loo that was out of order. A formed walking track of 150 m leads to a viewing platform that offers obstructed views of the falls. A better close-up view of the waterfall can be achieved, for those with hiking experience of climbing down steep rocky tracks, by following an unformed track to the right of the waterfall.
It was well worth the effort to get a close look at Shiprock Falls.
We then continued by car to Warburton and La La Falls. The start and end of the walk is on Irruka Road in Warburton. There is no toilet at the car park. The walk to La La Falls is 1.6 km hike up to the falls and 1.6 km back and it takes about 1hr 30 min to complete.
